Scan errors and how to fix them

If a scan fails or misses pages, check these causes.

Common issues

• Banner not detected: Ensure the banner loads on the homepage and uses your Domain ID.
• Blocked by robots.txt: Allow the scanner user agent or temporarily relax rules.
• Login walls: Auth-only sites may need a staging URL without auth.
• Timeouts/very large sites: Limit depth/start URL scope or exclude heavy sections.

Steps to fix

1. Verify the banner script is in <head> and visible on load.
2. Allow crawling: update robots or add a temporary allow rule.
3. Re-run after big tag/library changes.
4. If specific URLs fail, try scanning a narrower path first.

When to contact support

• Repeated failures after fixing robots/banners.
• Unexpected 500/403 responses.
• Need to scan authenticated areas safely (ask for guidance).
