Use case: ecommerce

Cookie consent for online stores

Online stores run more third-party scripts than most sites: analytics, ad pixels, reviews, chat and app embeds. GetCookies finds them, holds non-essential ones back until the shopper consents, and passes the decision on to Google and your ad platforms so measurement keeps working for shoppers who agree.

What stores usually need

  • Know what your theme and apps load

A scan lists every cookie and tracker with its category, including ones added by apps you forgot about.

  • Ads that still measure

Google Consent Mode v2 (Pro and above) sends consent signals to GA4 and Google Ads. When consent changes, the widget also updates Meta Pixel, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, X and Microsoft Ads if they are on the page.

  • Shoppers in more than one region

Geo-targeting (Pro and above) shows opt-in consent to EU and UK shoppers and CCPA-style notices to Californian shoppers.

  • Proof if a regulator asks

Every decision is logged with a timestamp and the categories chosen, and can be exported as CSV.

Which plan fits a store

Most stores that advertise on Google need the Pro plan, because Google Consent Mode v2, geo-targeting and scheduled scans start there. A single store with no ad tracking can start on Free or Starter. Current prices and limits are on the pricing page.

When another tool may suit you better

If you want a consent app installed from the Shopify App Store and managed inside Shopify admin, a Shopify-native app such as Pandectes may suit you better; see GetCookies vs Pandectes. If your ad stack requires a CMP registered with IAB Europe, check with us first: GetCookies generates TCF 2.3 strings but is not yet registered.
