How to switch from Usercentrics
There is no automatic importer: GetCookies does not read Usercentrics's settings or the consent it stored. Switching is a single deploy, and most of the work is checking your scan results:
- Export your Usercentrics consent records before you cancel. GetCookies does not import them, and you may need them as proof of past consent.
- Create a GetCookies account, add your domain and run a scan. Review the category of every cookie it finds.
- Configure the banner: layout, text and languages, plus geo-targeting and Google Consent Mode v2 on the Pro plan and above.
- Remove the Usercentrics script or Google Tag Manager tag and add the GetCookies loader as the first script in your page head. See direct script install or GTM installation.
- Open your site in a private window, decline, and check that nothing non-essential fires before consent. Then cancel Usercentrics.
Returning visitors will see the GetCookies banner once, because their Usercentrics choice is not carried over.
